I want to turn the clock back to when people lived in small villages and took care of each other. ~ Pete Seeger

10-20-09 NY & boarding

Us ladies got up and moving around 9am, I think…  Here are a couple pics from out our window (Grandma, Emily & I shared a room) – I don’t remember what floor we were on – but it was up there a ways. You can see the Hudson River from one of the pics.

Dad decided he was staying at the hotel – so it was just us ladies that went exploring NYC.

We headed to the subway – we had a couple yarn shops and a fabric store to find (plus we needed breakfast).

We found the first yarn shop (it didn’t open until 11am) so we walked around, checking out the sights and found a cafe for breakfast. We walked by the Empire State Bldg – there were many that tried to sell us a trip up in it.

From the base of it – you can’t see the top. and it looked really weird as I looked up at it and watched the clouds go by above – it looked like the building was moving.

NYC would be rolling in $$ if they enforced this law – we heard many horns – we even got honked at once.

We went to Gotta Knit, Purl Patchwork, and Purl.

They all were small shops – higher end prices but pretty yarns and fabrics. Then back to the subway & back to the hotel to get Dad and our luggage – off to the cruise ship – Norwegian Jewel.

Without much waiting in line – we got our pictures taken and boarded the ship. We went to our rooms, they were next to each other and had a connecting door between our balconies. Dad pulled out his laptop and hooked up his GPS to see “where we were”.

We went to the “Safety Talk” and then back to our rooms and watched as we sailed by the Statue of Liberty. She is such an impressive sight.

And enjoyed the sunset….

We met for dinner at the buffet and went our seperate ways – Mom and Dad to get internet access and wander around, Grandma to check out the library, and Emily and I continued to explore – watched a Comedian and listened to music (String Quartet, Pianist, Guitar and Vocal). It was a good day!
