I got a quick little lesson on perspective from nature yesterday. I was taking pictures of my oak barrel and it’s inhabitants, it’s fun to see little plants sprouting up. This is what the barrel looks like from up above…

It’s interesting to me, because I can see little sprouting plants all over, but it’s flat, there’s no dimension to it. So I decided to get down and personal with some of the plants…

So much more detail can be seen when you get on the same level…

You can even see the little weeds that are sprouting up also…

This one is my favorite, I actually took it in the morning as I was heading off to work. I love the water droplets and the light. This photo intrigued me so much that I came back and took the others in the evening.

These photos caused me to think about how I look at people and situations around me. Do I just look down from above in a casual and off-hand way? And say, “Oh that’s nice” and go on my way. Or am I willing to invest some time, to take a personal concern, and be willing to get up close and personal. When I’m talking about others, I’m not talking about being nosy and a busy-body. But just really being aware and concerned about problems and worries expressed. Going deeper, not keeping relationships shallow and only surface deep.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40

I also thought about how I look at myself. Again, is it just a surface view? I’m doing ok, I’m not any different than those around me. Or am I willing to look close to find the weeds that might be growing in my life?

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24

This is my desire, to get closer to God and have Him search out the hidden corners ~ and show me where I am, and lead me to where I should be.

sharing with this or that thursday
