5 minute friday ~ grit

On Fridays around these parts we stop, drop, and write.
For fun, for love of the sound of words, for play, for delight,
For joy and celebration at the art of communication.
For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited.
We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.

Today’s word ~ GRIT

start:

grit

~ those irksome habits that bug us

tnhistoryforkids.org

~ the tone of voice that grates

~ why does the toilet have to get backed up right now

~ when he has to tell that story “again”

~ the teen-ager rolls her eyes

~ the car won’t start and you are already running late

~ the little one dumps the box of cereal out on the floor

all these things are allowed to sand us down, to knock off our rough edges

do we allow ourselves to be smoothed or do we wall ourselves off from God’s workshop

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.  James 1:3-4

ps ~ I was also reminded that grit is what is in the center of a pearl

will we allow beauty to come from our gritty places

stop:
