poinsettias and trees

I thought I’d share a few pictures of a couple wall hanging quilts I have made in the past.

The first is “two ponsettias”. All of the red and green fabrics had gold metallic on them, the black and white did not. It is the first paper pieced quilt that I have done. It is 22″ x 26″. And I machine quilted it on my Janome with gold metallic thread on the red & green, black & white respectively on the black & white fabric.  The gold thread was a pain to work with as it kept breaking.

I had this hanging on my wall at work through the holiday season, and it was just replaced with this one ~ “winter trees”.

This one is one of the first landscape style quilts I have done. It is 37″ x 27″. I used raw edge machine applique technique, embellished with pen drawn stems, and machine stitched grasses. I machine quilted it with clear nylon over the snow and matching tan on the background. I love the silhouettes of trees, and really like how this one turned out.
